Beatrice "Betty" Elinor (Heppe) Sides

Beatrice “Betty” Elinor Sides, 93, of Mifflinville, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 14, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

Betty was born August 26, 1924 in Hazleton, daughter of the late Fred and Grace (Horn) Heppe.  She graduated from West Hazleton High School and went on to the Bloomsburg Hospital nursing school.  She worked at Bloomsburg Hospital as a registered nurse and also served as a staff nurse at the Wise Potato Chip Company. Betty was a member of the Mifflinville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. In addition, she participated in Disciple Bible studies and helped package many Easter eggs. She enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents Betty was preceded in death by her husband Warren Sides who passed away in 1998 and a sister Ethel Richards who passed away in 2006.

She is survived by a son Fred Sides and his wife Cindy of Ellicott City, Md. and three daughters Cathy Sides of Fredericksburg, Va., Nancy Sides of Mifflinville and Brenda and her husband Thomas Lazicki Sr. of Bloomsburg and two grandchildren Thomas Lazicki Jr. and his wife Amanda of Mifflinville, Kaitlyn Lazicki of Bloomsburg and two great grandchildren Anthony and Vivianne Lazicki of Mifflinville and a
sister Grace Evanko of Nazareth.

A memorial service will be Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 am the Mifflinville United Methodist Church 4th & Market St. Mifflinville, with Reverend Dr. Ken Gunter officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service.
